Kerwen and Dashawn were recently recognized by Nassau BOCES for passing their exams and officially receiving their New York State Barbering Licenses!
This incredible milestone is a perfect testament to the importance of providing diverse career and technical education (CTE) pathways. When we equip students with hands-on skills and real-world opportunities, there is no limit to what they can achieve straight out of high school.

Parents As Partners in Progress: Final Session
Spring was in the air at Walnut Street School! 🌸
Last week, the students of the Project Excel afterschool program were treated to an incredible Spring Egg Hunt, hosted by our very own Uniondale High School Student Council!
This wonderful event was the brainchild of Shelcy Supre, who took the lead on every detail—from initial planning and communicating with Mr. Bracht and Dr. Tavares to coordinating a dedicated team of volunteers to pack and hide hundreds of eggs.
The result? Pure joy and smiles all around!
A massive thank you to Shelcy and all the Student Council members who stayed well after the school bell rang to create such a magical experience for the Walnut Street students. Your leadership and community spirit truly shine! ✨

One of our district’s primary goals is to prepare our students for the "real world." We believe in connecting classroom learning to life after graduation—and our EMT Course is an example of that mission in action.
This isn't just a textbook elective. Our students are training to become the next generation of first responders, learning to serve their communities when they are needed most.
Our practicing EMT instructors are not just teaching for a grade; we're preparing students for the certifications and demands of a career in emergency medicine.
We are incredibly proud of these students for stepping up to the challenge. They aren’t just preparing for a career; they’re preparing to save lives.

We are beyond proud of our Grand Avenue Scholars, who absolutely shone at the Board of Education meeting, highlighting their TEDx experience. These students didn’t just share "ideas"—they shared vision, heart, and the incredible journey of finding their own voices.
Watching them speak with such poise and passion was a point of pride for all. A massive thank you to Mr. Weiss for his mentorship and for tirelessly working to bring our student voices to a global stage.
