PowerSchool Breach Communication/Notification

What Happened?

On December 28, 2024, PowerSchool became aware of a cybersecurity incident involving unauthorized exfiltration of certain personal information from PowerSchool Student Information System (SIS) environments through one of our community-focused customer support portals, PowerSource.

What Information Was Involved?

Due to differences in customer requirements, the information exfiltrated for any given individual varied across our customer base.  

Updated by UUFSD - Breached Information:

  • Student Demographic Information: first and last name, address, phone, school email address, date of birth, gender, ethnicity, programmatic alerts, diploma type, and limited medical alert indicators. 

  • Parent / Family Information: first and last name, phone number, email addresses

  • Staff: first and last name, gender, date of birth, address, and school email address. (Note: A small number of staff members' social security numbers were included. These staff members have already been notified individually.) 

What is PowerSchool Doing?

PowerSchool is offering two years of complimentary identity protection services to students and educators whose information was involved. For adult students and educators, this offer will also include two years of complimentary credit monitoring services.

If your personal information was involved in this incident and you are interested in enrolling in credit monitoring or identity protection, please follow the steps for either Option 1 or Option 2 below:

If you are interested in enrolling in credit monitoring or your child in identity protection, please follow the steps for either Option 1 (for those 18 years of age or older) or Option 2 (for those under the age of 18)

Option 1: If the Involved Individual is 18 or Over

  • This offer is available to

    • current and former students who are 18 or older

    • all parents/guardians of current and former students

    • current and former staff

  • Visit the Experian IdentityWorks website

  • Provide the following activation code: CTYU949PRK

  • The deadline to enroll is May 30, 2025

    • Experian’s call center hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00am through 8:00pm Central Time (excluding major US holidays.)

Details Regarding Your Experian Identityworks Credit Plus Membership:  A credit card is not required for enrollment in Experian IdentityWorks.  You can contact Experian immediately regarding any fraud issues, and have access to the following features once you enroll:

  • Experian credit report at signup: See what information is associated with your credit file. Daily credit reports are available for online members only.  Offline members can call for quarterly reports after enrolling

  • Credit Monitoring: Actively monitors Experian file for indicators of fraud.

  • Internet Surveillance: Technology searches the web, chat rooms & bulletin boards 24/7 to identify trading or selling of your personal information on the Dark Web.

  • Identity Restoration: Identity Restoration specialists are immediately available to help you address credit and non-credit related fraud.

  • Experian IdentityWorks ExtendCARE: You receive the same high-level of Identity Restoration support even after your Experian IdentityWorks membership has expired.

  • $1 Million Identity Theft Insurance: Provides coverage for certain costs and unauthorized electronic fund transfers.
