NOTICE OF SPECIAL MEETING

August 20, 2020 7:00 PM

As you know, the Uniondale Union Free School District continues to take steps to reduce the potential for exposure to the coronavirus (COVID-19).  The District’s efforts in this regard are made in furtherance of federal, state, and local mandates to prohibit any and all public gatherings.  Governor Andrew Cuomo’s Executive Order 202.1, issued on March 12, 2020, and continued by subsequent Executive Order 202.38 and 202.48, has suspended certain provisions of Article 7 of the New York Public Officers Law relating to Open Meetings until September 4, 2020.

In his Executive Order, the Governor has ordered the following as it relates to the Open Meetings Law:

Suspension of law allowing the attendance of meetings telephonically or other similar service:

Article 7 of the Public Officers Law, to the extent necessary to permit any public body to meet and take such actions authorized by the law without permitting in public in-person access to meetings and authorizing such meetings to be held remotely by conference call or similar service, provided that the public has the ability to view or listen to such proceeding and that such meetings are recorded and later transcribed.

Accordingly, the Board of Education of the Uniondale Union Free School District is scheduled to meet at 7:00 PM on Thurday, August 20, 2020 via video and audio conference at (https://zoom.us/j/94869199408?pwd=TzV3cndoZFZXbk9VR0lqU0V5b3dOQT09, Password: rtH92S) for a Special Meeting. It is anticipated that upon convening in public session the Board of Education will immediately entertain a motion to convene an executive session.  There are no other agenda matters scheduled to be addressed at this noticed Special Meeting.

In accordance with Executive Order 202.1, please be further notified that the Special Meeting shall be conducted without permitting in-person attendance.  Again, the Special Meeting will be video and audio broadcasted at (https://zoom.us/j/94869199408?pwd=TzV3cndoZFZXbk9VR0lqU0V5b3dOQT09, Password: rtH92S) in order to provide the public with the ability to view and listen to the meeting.  The meeting will be also recorded and later transcribed in accordance with Executive Order 202.1.

Important 2020 Census Information

Dear Uniondale Community,
The 2020 Census is easy. The questions are simplehttps://2020census.gov/
Your responses to the 2020 Census are safesecure, and protected by federal law. Your answers can only be used to produce statistics—they cannot be used against you in any way. By law, all responses to the U.S. Census Bureau household and business surveys are kept completely confidential.  Respond online to the 2020 Census to shape the future. Responding to the census helps communities get the funding they need and helps businesses make data-driven decisions that grow the economy.
