The Uniondale Union Free School District commends Steve A. Muir Sr. ’95 on his induction into the Uniondale Alumni Wall of Fame. Steve’s life has been molded through motivation and a passion for success, leading to his professional achievement as president of Heeling Soles, a family run organization led by Steve’s immediate family, aiming to provide for the less fortunate. 

“On behalf of the district, we applaud and congratulate Steve A. Muir Sr. on his recognition in our Alumni Wall of Fame,” said Mrs. Rhonda Taylor, Acting Superintendent of Schools. “Mr. Muir Sr. embodies his roots through his diligence and compassion for others, traits he showcased from a young age. The district is honored to have such a benevolent and selfless individual as an alum, working every day to better the lives of others.”

Born in Kingston, Jamaica and subsequently raised in Uniondale, NY, Steve A. Muir Sr. grew up with little, living with his two older siblings, parents, and grandmother, who owned a large parcel of land and allowed the less fortunate to build small homes on her property. Steve took this example with him into his professional career as he co-founded Heeling Soles, a company focused on eradicating poverty through providing shoes to individuals, alongside other necessities like food, clothing, and water. 

Steve’s goals surround improving self-esteem and success through shoes, enabling individuals to walk brighter paths and become assets to their communities. Heeling Soles has been able to impact the less fortunate across the world in London, France, Mauritania, Haiti, Jamaica, Puerto Rico, North Carolina, Georgia, Florida, Texas, California, all five boroughs of New York City, and Steve’s hometown of Uniondale.
The Uniondale Union Free School District has created the Alumni Wall of Fame to recognize alumni who have made an impact on the district and celebrate their professional accomplishments. These individuals represent the district through their diligence and achievements as alumni.
