Uniondale’s Grand Avenue Scholars Get Up Close and Personal
with Exotic Animals
Animal Party Presentation Brought a Number of Different Species to the Schools
As Uniondale Union Free School District’s Grand Avenue Elementary School closes out a successful school year, kindergarten and first grade scholars were recently treated to a visit by the Animals Party Presentation company. For the end-of-year celebration, the young scholars were brought into the gym and surprised by live animals they were immediately eager to get a closer look at. Scholars sat in a circle listening to fun facts about each animal and asking questions, patiently awaiting their turn to pet the animals. The company brought a hedgehog, a tarantula, rabbits and snakes for the young scholars to interact with.
“Our scholars absolutely loved the surprise visit by the Animals Party Presentation company,” said
Superintendent of Schools Dr. Monique Darrisaw-Akil. “It’s not every day scholars get a chance to hold a tarantula or pet a 150-pound python. While there may have been some initial hesitation, our scholars were incredibly brave and excited to have this opportunity. We thank Animals Party Presentation for helping Grand Avenue celebrate the end to a great year, and we look forward to seeing our scholars back here in the fall.”
