Uniondale School Library Media Services

At the heart of every Uniondale school's learning community is the library with a program designed to be closely aligned with the curriculum, a mission to help students succeed as learners, information seekers and users, and a commitment to instill in students a love for reading.

How does the library accomplish these goals?

  • broadens the use of resources

  • supports the local curriculum

  • incorporates technology into specific learning plans

Through literature appreciation activities designed to:

  • captivate and enthrall

  • create enthusiastic and dedicated readers

  • communicate the value reading has in life

Through resources that:

  • are rich and varied

  • offer different perspectives and points of view

  • are available in print and non-print formats

Through the research process which:

  • is integrated with the curriculum

  • teaches students critical strategies necessary to discover how to find out what they need to know

Communication of Information — Students create presentations to inform or persuade in oral, written, artistic, and/or multimedia formats.
